About the Client

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is responsible for formulating policies aimed at enhancing the STI sectors in Malaysia. Established in its current form in 2004, its main focus is on enhancing Malaysia’s R&D and innovation commercialisation particularly in the biotechnology, ICT, space and marine fields.

Objective

For the Ministry proper, The IBR Asia Group carried out a 360-degree campaign encompassing various media platforms including: 

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is responsible for formulating policies aimed at enhancing the STI sectors in Malaysia. Established in its current form in 2004, its main focus is on enhancing Malaysia’s R&D and innovation commercialisation particularly in the biotechnology, ICT, space and marine fields.

As MOSTI and the various agencies under its purview seek to increase public awareness and appreciation for their activities, they turned to The IBR Asia Group to help create and amplify that message to a diverse audience through various media platforms.

Thought leadership positioning of MOSTI Minister through conducting and producing video interviews and securing placement of interviews on digital TV channel

Reputation building of MOSTI through concerted digital marketing campaign for its National Innovation and Creative Economy (NICE) Expo – the country’s largest Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) expo aimed at fostering and cultivating an interest in STI.

What We Did and how we did it

Created social media posts, which were posted on the official NICE social media pages, to encourage visitors to register for the event.
Managed the social media accounts for NICE including ensuring that all enquiries from the public are answered
Redesigned and revamped The NICE website to make it more interactive
Conducted interviews with the then Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation – YB Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau – to promote NICE and uploaded videos of those interviews on NICE social media pages
Covered the events during NICE and created social media posts to publicise them on the NICE social media accounts
Interviewed participants and delegates and used information from said interviews for social media posts which were published on NICE’s social media accounts
Videographed key happenings at NICE and used them to create social media posts which were published on NICE’s social media accounts

Results

As part of our overall campaign for MOSTI and its various agencies, The IBR Asia Group managed to:

Strengthen good will for the MOSTI and its agencies among local and international stakeholders through enhancing appreciation and knowledge of their activities and initiatives

Increase the profile of officials of MOSTI and its agencies by positioning them as thought leaders in STI

Generated 10 million impressions and increased footfall at MOSTI’s NICE expo

Generated appreciation and awareness of NMB’s role in driving nanotechnology in Malaysia and the region
