About The Client

The Ministry of Housing and Local Government is responsible for formulating and implementing policies that govern urban development in Malaysia. Its scope of responsibilities include overseeing local authorities, waste management, and housing in the country.


Malaysia was chosen to host the 9th World Urban Forum (WUF9), the world’s premier conference on urban development organised by United Nations Habitat (UN Habitat) from 7 to 13 February 2018. Urbanice Malaysia – an agency under the Ministry – was entrusted with managing the event and ensure a critical mass of attendees to the event as well as to keep the public informed through digital media about WUF9.

The IBR Asia Group has accumulated a wealth of experience in organising curated events. We hold a great track-record for turnout in all our events by reaching out to the target audience and creating buzz about the event across multiple platforms. As such, Urbanice Malaysia commissioned the IBR Asia Group to manage the social media publicity for the event.

What We Did and how we did it

We set up a dedicated landing page that enabled visitors to register their interest in attending. This enabled us to streamline the registration process and make it faster and easier for attendees.
Developed a series of social media posts to engage and generate interest from the public while leading them to the landing page.
During the event, we conducted video interviews of speakers and attendees and posted regular updates to dedicated social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.
